Sweet Prayer

I just couldn't resist blogging about what happened tonight because it's one of those moments I don't ever want to forget.

Adam and I usually take turns laying with Sam each night in his big boy bed for just a few minutes before he goes to sleep. Tonight was my turn and we hadn't been laying there long before Sam got very still and quiet. I was just about to get up and leave when I heard a sweet little voice in the darkness, "Dear Jesus, thank you for Mama - Amen." My heart just melted and I reached over and gave him a great big hug. He had no idea that his sweet little prayer had just made my night and as I left Sam's room I thanked God for the millionth time for letting me be this precious little boy's mama.

Janitor Sam

Baby Jack's Nursery

After quite a bit of planning, moving furniture around and decorating, I think Baby Jack's nursery is almost ready for him (except for a few things I am waiting on to hang on the walls).

This is a picture of the main fabric I chose for Jack's bedding - it is called "Freddy Rocker." I just fell in love with the cute little frogs and thought they looked like they were all having so much fun playing their instruments. I can't wait until we have a sweet boy to put in this nursery!

Hayes' Baptism

Today was a very special day - Hayes' baptism and Banks' 3rd birthday!

Sweet Hayes all dressed up in the gown that his big brother Banks and cousin Sam wore for their baptisms.
All smiles!

Big boys waiting patiently for church to start.

Me with my two handsome boys and another sweet one in my belly.
It was so nice that all of our family could be together at church on Hayes' special day. The Lord has definitely blessed our families with precious boys and we look forward to watching them all grow into strong, Christian men.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Banks!

Cousin Banks is turning three this weekend and we went to help him celebrate at Bobi & Pop Pop's house today.

As we were driving down their street, Adam spotted a turtle in the middle of the road. We decided to rescue him and take him with us to the party.

The boys had fun looking at him before we let him go free in the backyard.

Sam had fun coloring and playing stickers and then...

...it was time to take a ride on the Wild West train with Daddy, William and Annelyse.

After the train ride it was time for some lunch

and cake - Sam's favorite!!

Banks got lots of great presents from his friends and family and his mama and daddy even had him a new jeep waiting out front in the driveway! These two boys had such a fun time riding around together and waving at everyone.

We had such a fun time at Cowboy Banks' party and look forward to helping him celebrate many more. Happy Birthday, Banks!

Happy 4th Birthday, Rusty!

Tonight we celebrated our sweet pup's 4th birthday. Rusty is such a good dog, especially with Sam, and we are so glad he is a part of our family.

To help him celebrate, we got a bowl of Chick-fil-A ice cream that he ate in less than two minutes. Sam thought it was the funniest thing!

Happy Birthday, Rusty! We love you!

Baby Jack's Diaper Shower

This afternoon, some sweet friends and family helped host a diaper shower for me and baby Jack. All of the food and decorations were perfect and their hard work was evident everywhere you looked.

The food table had so many delicious things on it...

...including this precious cake! I loved the monogrammed baby carriage on top and it tasted just as good as it looked!

Look at all of those tiny clothes! It is hard to imagine Jack being so small after spending so much time with my big boy Sam.

Baby Jack is definitely one loved little boy.

My Meme gave us these cute painted wooden blocks that spell out Jack's name. They will look great in his new room.

We all had such a good time sitting around and visiting while I opened presents.

(Meme had just gotten out of the hospital on Tuesday after a week long stay for pneumonia and she was such a trooper to come anyway, even though I know she wasn't feeling well. It really meant a lot to me to have her there.)

As I was opening up the tiny clothes and diapers today, I think it finally hit me that baby Jack is going to be here soon. I am so excited about the new addition to our family and I so appreciate everyone helping us celebrate during this special time.

All Sam Wants for Christmas...

...is to keep his two front teeth!!

He and Adam were playing in his room this morning and using his little wooden step stool as a workbench. Sam got up on his knees to reach for another tool and lost his balance as he was sitting back down. He fell face first into the stool and immediately started crying. That was my first clue that something really bad had happened. I could hear him from across the house and Sam just doesn't cry unless he is really hurt. Adam came running into the kitchen with Sam in his arms and laid him on the counter so we could try and get a better look at his face. There was blood coming out of his mouth and it was obvious he had knocked his front teeth pretty hard.

We are fortunate enough to have a sweet cousin, Sara Jane, that is a pediadontist at UMC. I called her in a panic to tell her what had happened and she said she would meet us up at the Batson Children's hospital to do some x-rays and check him out. Sam was not thrilled with the x-rays and he kept clinging to Adam saying, "It's ok...it's ok." The x-rays showed that the teeth had been moved a little bit but the nerves were still intact so it wasn't necessary to pull the teeth. Sara Jane said the teeth might turn dark in a few weeks or even a few months down the road but it was just a waiting game. I was so thankful to hear that everything was ok and Sam was grinning from ear to ear by the time we left because she let him get a ball out of her toy machine for being such a good boy.

It is obvious from this picture that Sam's top lip is ridiculously swollen from his fall, but that is nothing compared to his pitiful, bruised gums that are black and blue. It certainly hurts my heart to see my sweet boy get hurt but I am thankful for a good doctor's report and know he will be feeling much better soon!

No Sleeping on the Floor!

I usually go take one last peek at Sam every night before I go to sleep. Most nights he is snoozing away in his big boy bed but tonight I got quite a surprise when I rounded the corner. My sweet boy was snuggled up with his Lightning McQueen pillow and sleeping soundly on the floor by the gate at the door of his room. It was a pitiful sight and Adam was quick to come and get him up off the floor and back in his bed. Silly boy - sleeping on the floor is for animals! :)

Ole Miss vs. BYU

Adam, Sam, Bobi, Rusty & I loaded up our red and blue things Friday afternoon and hit the road for the first Ole Miss home football weekend of the 2011 season. Uncle Steve and his crew, including Andrew & Cyndi from Kentucky, joined us too. We had a delicious dinner on the square at Ajax and then played around at Square Books, Jr. before heading back to the condo for the night.

It wasn't long after we got back that Sam started showing off for everyone by talking in his "Dana voice" - the deep voice he uses when he talks about his girlfriend, Dana. Adam and I proceeded to tell them that he had been talking about Dana for a few weeks and we couldn't figure out who she was to save our life. We didn't have any friends by that name nor did we watch anything on TV that had a character named Dana in it.

After a few minutes of listening to us talk about this imaginary girl Sam must have made up, Cyndi piped up and said that the little girl that Sam had danced and played with at their wedding in July, who also happened to be Cyndi's cousin, was named Dana. You could have picked my mouth up off the floor after she told us this. Sam undoubtedly found out her name and remembered it and his own mother had not a clue even though they played together most of the night. Boy were we all relieved to finally find out who Dana was...and that she was a real person!! :)

Saturday morning was pretty relaxing and we all stayed around the condo resting and watching the other football games on TV.

After lunch, Sam put his game day gear on and was ready to head to the stadium. I decided it would be best if I stayed back and didn't do a whole lot of walking or sitting out in the heat with my big belly, but I did run a "taxi service" to and from the stadium. I was definitely sorry to find quite a few sad faces when I returned to pick them up at the end of the game. Unfortunately the Rebels weren't able to pull off a win but it certainly was a close game and we had a fun time in Oxford despite the loss.
