Snow Cones

After nap time today we all went to Sno Biz for another cool treat to help Sam's throat feel better.

He chose grape!

"Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?"

Sweet brothers

Boo!

Glad to see a smile on this little guy's face.  It sure hurts my heart when he is sick and doesn't feel well.

Just the Thing for a Sore Throat!

Unfortunately, Sam woke up this morning with a high fever, which meant we headed to the Children's Clinic instead of to his last t-ball game of the season.  He was pretty bummed about missing the game but I just had a hunch that he might have strep (he's been famous for it lately) and I didn't want him sharing it with his teammates.   Sure enough, he tested positive for strep.  He was a good sport at the doctor during his throat swab so we made a special stop on our way home at Berry Berry Good to get some yogurt.  Isn't a cold bowl of chocolate yogurt with 25 cherries on top the best thing for a sore throat? ;)

Picnic at the Park

For lunch today we met Ms. Liza and Kaley at the Flowood park for a picnic and some play time.

Ms. Liza brought along a blanket so we could eat our Chick-fil-A in the grass and enjoy some sunshine.

Jack loves playing at the park and keeping up with the "big kids."

These two played their little hearts out and were being silly until the moment we got in the car.  They had a blast together and we were entertained just watching them!

Last Day of Mother's Morning Out 2013

How is it possible that today is already the last day of Mother's Morning Out?  Wasn't it just January...the day I dropped my babies off for the first time and felt an enormous knot in my stomach?  I knew it was the perfect thing for both of them but that didn't make letting go that day any easier!

Fast forward four months and my two handsome loves are dressed and ready to go to their last day of Mother's Morning Out this Spring.

Happy boys!

Sam's name tag that was on his "cubby" in his classroom.

Mrs. Judy and Mrs. Tracy made this precious album full of photos of Sam throughout the semester.

I love the picture in the front of me and Sam on the first day of school.

Jack also got a photo album from JuJu, Jan and Tia.  How sweet!

In celebration of the last day of school, the boys and I met Lili at the Flowood park for a Chick-fil-A picnic and some play time after I picked them up from school.

So thankful my boys had such a great semester at Mother's Morning Out.  It's amazing how much they've grown and learned in these four short months!

Mother's Day 2013

Today, I celebrated these two angels that made me a mama!  I'm so blessed to call them mine!

We started our day off by having brunch at Char with Lili, Shuffie & Meme.  These two sweet ladies are absolutely irreplaceable in my life and I'm thankful for the time I get to spend with them.  I certainly learned everything about being a mom from them.

Jack felt like posing for a few photos after he finished his lunch.  Like the wind-blown look of his hair?  ;)

After a good afternoon rest, we loaded up and went to Pop Pop & Bobi's house to have dinner and celebrate with the mothers and grandmothers in Adam's family.  We had a busy but fun-filled Mother's Day!

Eighteen Months Old!

What has Jack been up to lately?

*We went for his eighteen-month checkup with Dr. Sherwood this morning and he weighed 28 lbs. and was 34 inches long.  He is almost the exact same size that Sam was at this age so it looks like we will have two tall boys in our house to go along with a tall daddy!  I am so thankful that Jack got a great report at his check-up and is a healthy, growing boy.

*He is wearing a size 5 diaper, 2T-3T clothes, size 6 shoes and has 8 teeth.

*He isn't as "chatty" as Sam was at this age but Dr. Sherwood assured me this was perfectly normal for a second child.  She made a great point during our discussion...."Why should he talk?  He has somebody around all the time to talk for him and bring him everything he needs!"  Yes, she speaks the truth.  Sam is definitely Jack's biggest advocate.  And although Jack is a man of few words, like his Daddy, he still knows exactly what we are saying to him and will follow any commands given.

*He is still just the best little sleeper around!  There is never any protesting from him when we tell him it's time to go "night-night."  He doesn't like to be rocked much before bed but really prefers to be hugged and kissed, laid down and left alone to relax in the dark before he falls asleep.  He goes to bed around 8:00 or 8:30 each night and will sleep until at least 8:30 every morning if he isn't disturbed.

*He is a very good eater and loves to drink milk.  Some green vegetables still aren't his favorite but he will eat lady peas and butter beans so that's good enough for me in that area!  He and Sam love to go to Chick-fil-A with Lili for lunch and they can both pretty much devour a 6 count kids nugget meal, fruit and ice cream!  Surprisingly, I think his favorite part is the fruit and not the ice cream.

*He loves wearing hats and sunglasses and trying on other peoples shoes.  It is the funniest thing.  He wakes up some mornings and will walk to his dresser cabinet that has all of his hats, pick out his favorite for the day and won't take it off for hours. He doesn't ever want any help putting on these accessories and sometimes his shades end up on him upside down and that doesn't bother him a bit.

*He is obsessed with our pup Rusty, and most of the time he calls him "T" or "puppy."  That sweet Rusty is still as much of a saint as he was when Sam was little.  He lets Jack crawl all over him and poke and prod while remaining patient the entire time.  What a good dog we have!

*He has made a great transition out of the house during his first semester at Mother's Morning Out this spring.  I was wanting to give him just a little time away from me and get him used to staying with others and it has really worked out wonderfully.  The three ladies that keep him at church each week just love him to pieces and I couldn't ask for anybody that would be sweeter to him.  It was a tough adjustment at the first of the year but he has been a trooper and has really gotten the hang of it.  He know his Mama is ALWAYS coming back for his sweet hugs and kisses so there is no reason to cry when I leave for a little while!

*He and Sam are starting to really enjoy each other and it is the most fulfilling thing for me to watch.  I think the relationship between brothers can be so special and I hope they always remain close and look out for each other.  For now, they are both learning more about sharing and doing a pretty good job with it.  Sam is so patient with him and wants to hug Jack all the time.  Jack enjoys playing with Sam but is still warming up to the idea of all of these hugs.  ;)

Reflecting back on the past eighteen months, it is so neat to think how different our two boys already are even though they both have the same two parents.  I love watching Jack's little personality develop, learning more about his likes and dislikes and realizing that although we are all four different in many ways...we fit perfectly together as this family of four.  The Lord has certainly blessed us with each other and for that I am eternally grateful.  We love you, Jack and can't wait to continue to watch you grow.

Swinging with My Little Buddy

Crafts of the Day

Today's "Crafts of the Day" were extra special ones in honor of Mother's Day coming up this weekend.

Sweet Sam couldn't wait until this weekend to give me this precious gift he made for me at school this today.  I was thrilled to get an early Mother's Day gift and can't wait to find the perfect spot for some very special hand prints.

Tiger Tour 2013

Last night Sam went with Lili and Shuffie to the Ag Museum. The LSU Tiger Tour was making a stop in Jackson and Lili got Adam's blessing to take his little Ole Miss Rebel son to a purple and gold event.  I was shocked! ;)

Little did Lili know that her innocent dinner with Sam and Shuffie would turn into quite a public display.  She and Sam went over to have their picture made with head coach Les Miles before the program started and the local news just happened to capture them on camera.  I was getting dressed for work this morning when Mrs. Marilyn called and said, "I just saw Sam and Lisa on the news!"  I thought she was joking, given the fact that she knew this Rebel child was attending an LSU event, but after a few clicks on the computer I realized she wasn't kidding.  Sam and Lili are famous now! They made the news last night and this morning in a clip that talked about Les Miles making a trip to Jackson.  Lili was able to secure a copy of the video for us to keep for posterity. ;)  So glad a few of my favorite people had a fun and memorable night together!

The Band Perry

Tonight my mom and I had a girls' night out as an early Mother's Day celebration.  We ate a delicious dinner at Georgia Blue and then drove downtown to see The Band Perry in concert at Thalia Mara Hall.

Waiting for the show to begin!

They put on a fantastic show and were great entertainers.  So glad I got to spend this night with my sweet mama.  We love being with our boys but it's nice to have some time just the two of us every now and then. ;)

Yogurt Date

We met Kaley and her mom at Sweet Tree Yogurt tonight for a yogurt "date."  These two have so much fun playing together!

The Rainforest Adventure Exhibit

After haircuts this morning, we met Meme for some brunch at Corner Bakery and then all rode together to the MS Museum of Natural Science.

Meme had never been before and Sam was excited to show her around and check out the Rainforest Adventure Exhibit.

I like your new friend, Sam!

"Puppy!" (Jack's word for every animal these days)

Checking things out.

Ribbit, Ribbit

Sam and Meme watching all of the cool fish.

"Look at the turtles, Meme!"

Jack got a glimpse more on his level.  :)

I was so happy to catch this sweet moment on camera.  Sam had an absolute blast exploring the museum with Meme.  He absolutely adores her and I know the feeling is mutual.  What a fun outing today!
