Adam and I left early Thursday morning for an anniversary getaway in Gatlinburg, TN.
We were about forty-five minutes away from Gatlinburg when we topped a hill and traffic suddenly came to a halt for a tiny fawn in the middle of the road. Adam and a few other men pulled over and helped it get back to the side of the road and hopefully closer to finding it's mama.
We stayed in a resort that had private cabins about twelve miles outside of town. The scenery was beautiful and well worth the extra drive.
Our cabin was two stories and had a balcony on both levels overlooking the mountains.
Thursday afternoon we unloaded the car and drove back into town to eat dinner.
After dinner we walked around town and checked out some shops.
Before we drove back to our cabin for the night Adam thought it would be a good idea to ride the sky lift...1,800 feet in the air. Oh. My. Goodness. I do not love heights - at all - and did not enjoy myself. Let's just say I was very excited to make it off that thing and probably won't be riding it again.
We had our picture made at the bottom once we were safely back on the ground. :)
Adam and his new friend. Sam loved this picture when we sent it to him!
Friday we were extremely lazy and enjoyed relaxing most of the day until it was time to get ready to drive into town and eat dinner.
Saturday, our 5th anniversary, was full of adventure. We started off the day with a couples massage and then had a nice lunch before driving to the National Park. We drove through the park until we found a trail we wanted to hike that took us to a beautiful waterfall, Grotto Falls.
The water was perfectly clear but freezing cold!!
We hiked almost 2.5 miles round trip and I was happy to see our car by the time we made it to the end of the trail. Someone we passed on our way down told us to be careful as they had just spotted a rattlesnake so we picked up the pace after we heard that!
Saturday night we had dinner at the Park Grill Steakhouse and enjoyed the last night of our vacation.
Sunday morning we got up and got ready to go back home to see our sweet boys. We missed them so much but knew they were in good hands with Lili and Shuffie. A big thank you to them for their willingness to keep the boys so Adam and I could spend this special time together. We had a blast just the two of us and enjoyed the time away. Happy Anniversary, Adam! I love you and look forward to celebrating many, many more!
