Exhausted

Sam decided he wasn't interested in taking a nap this morning so this is what happened right in the middle of me feeding him lunch....

Vegetable of the Week: Squash

He seemed to like these a lot more than the sweet potatoes!

Lazy Friday Morning

Sam and I love to be lazy and lay in the bed on Friday mornings...especially this Friday morning when the weather is so yucky.

First Shopping Trip!

Sam went on his first shopping trip with his Meme and he loved it! He could not stop kicking his legs in the stroller and even got some toys from Meme and Lili for being so good.

Can't Catch Me!

Sam loves rolling around the room!

Sitting Up!

Not Too Sure...

Sam still isn't too sure about the sweet potatoes. He makes this awful face for the first few bites and then eats the rest with a smile. Silly boy!

I Love this Face!

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path." - Agatha Christie

First Vegetable: Sweet Potatoes

Tonight Sam had his first vegetable - sweet potatoes. He wasn't too sure about them at first bite but, just like everything else he has eaten so far, he gobbled them up pretty quickly. Before we know it this little boy will be eating table food!

High Chair

Sam had his very first meal in his new high chair today. He loves sitting up in it and acts like he is so proud of himself!

6 Month Checkup

Sam went for his 6 month checkup and shots yesterday and got a great report. He is 21 lb. 5 oz. (95th percentile) and is 29.5 inches long (99th percentile). He is definitely going to be a big boy - just like his daddy! Dr. Sherwood said she is extremely pleased with his growth and development and does not even consider him a preemie anymore. Yay!

She looked at his eyes and said that she really expected them to stay blue if they had not already turned by now. She also told us to go ahead and start adding vegetables to his diet and to continue with the fruit and cereal. Hopefully these extra solids will help with his reflux.

He got the first dose of the seasonal flu shot and then the three other "regularly scheduled" shots for his age. He was a sick little boy after that to say the least. He was pretty mad when nurse Jill gave him the shots but calmed down once we got in the car. He was fussy all afternoon though and by last night he had a fever of about 101 and threw up. Bless his heart, I don't think I slept a wink. I kept going in to check on him and make sure his fever hadn't gone up any more. He slept pretty good and woke up with a smile on his face this morning. Glad that is over!

We are so thankful for a happy, healthy, growing boy!

Sitting Practice

Sam and Dad have been having some lengthy sitting practices lately, but Sam is really getting the hang of it and is so proud of himself!

Are we finished yet, Dad?!

Six Months Old!

Happy 6 month birthday Sam! A lot can happen in half of a year...

What has Sam been up to lately?

*He is wearing a size 3 diaper.

*He is wearing 6-9 and 9 month clothes.

*He loves to roll around on the floor and gets so frustrated when he can't get to a toy fast enough - he has a "grunt" he uses to let us know of this frustration!

*He is always happy and will smile at just about anyone, whether he knows them or not. As my grandmother says, it is such a "sincere" smile. His eyes sparkle and his entire face lights up. Talk about making my day!

*He loves to play in his exersaucer, or his "office" as we call it at our house. He can entertain himself in there for quite a while.

*He has found his loud voice and likes to let out a happy squeal every now and then...I think he does this just because he can =)

*He is such a good eater and we are looking forward to starting vegetables this week.

*He loves to listen to music before he goes to sleep and I love the time we spend together rocking and listening to the Praise Baby music on my iPhone.

*He has been "practicing" his sitting up with Dad a lot lately and is getting pretty good at it - it won't be too long!

Adam and I are constantly reminded of how great God is - every time we look into this little boy's face. It is so hard to believe he is ours and we love him so much. He brings us all so much joy and I'm so happy to be able to call this little boy my son.

Walking in the Neighborhood

Sam and I decided to go for a walk in our neighborhood to take advantage of this "warm" weather. We enjoyed the fresh air!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We had a pretty low key New Years Eve - Chinese takeout and watching the ball drop on T.V. (eastern time - we were fast asleep by the real 12:00!). It was still a great one because I was with my three favorite boys. As I think back on 2009, of course only one thing really stands out in my mind, the very thing that I think will make it forever stand out as one of the best years of my life - Sam's birth. While I don't think 2010 will top 2009, I am sure that it will be a great one! We would like to wish everyone a healthy and Happy New Year!
