Mississippi Children's Museum

Adam had one more vacation day from 2010 to "use or lose" before the end of the month so he spent today with me and Sam! We were so glad to have him home with us and decided to go on an adventure.

Our first stop was at Primos on Lakeland to eat breakfast - it certainly was yummy! Then we were going to head to the Mississippi Children's Museum after a quick diaper change in the back of the car. Oh. My. Goodness...I will spare you the details, but what I thought was going to be a quick change turned into a disaster. The poor thing not only needed a clean diaper but we were going to have to find a clean pair of pants too!

As you can see, the lack of pants didn't phase Sam at all. He actually thought it was pretty funny and kept tickling his legs and laughing at himself. He laughed all the way to Kohl's, where I ran in and quickly grabbed a pair of pants so we could continue on our journey.

We finally arrived at the museum, clean pants and all, only a little later than we had planned.

Sam got so excited as soon as we walked through the front doors and we almost couldn't get him past the flashing lights in the floor of the lobby! Some of the stations were a little old for him to really enjoy right now but we quickly found a cow that needed milking with a little help from Daddy.

Then Sam and I crawled through the "farmhouse" and slid down the big slide!

After working on the farm, it was time for Sam to head out to the forest and put on his safety gear to start moving some timber.

They even had an orange safety vest for him to wear!

With the timber taken care of, it was time to take a break and play on the slide. It was just his size and he slid down it so many times I lost count!

There was a replica of the state capitol and Sam climbed up in it to take a peek out of the rotunda and wave at everyone.

There was also a section of water toys were you could fish for catfish and race boats. Sam couldn't quite figure out this bubble that ran under the water station.

Our final stop was at the kitchen, and it was hands down his favorite place in the whole museum. He really loves to pretend to cook and just a bowl and a spoon can entertain him at home for quite a while. When we walked up, the kitchen was full of little girls and there was not a boy in sight. It didn't seem to bother Sam one bit though and he got right in the middle of them and cooked away.

We had a wonderful time playing at the museum and spending the day together as a family! We look forward to more visits to the museum and are so excited that we have such a great place to learn and play nearby.
