Sitting at the Children's Clinic all morning long with this sick little boy was not how I had imagined spending Lili & Bobi's birthday. Poor Jack has been congested and coughing for a while now and just hasn't been able to shake it even with a round of antibiotics. A few "barky" croup coughs around bedtime last night and I knew exactly where we would be first thing this morning.
Sweet boy just broke my heart with these tears! He had been poked and prodded and was REALLY ready to just be left alone. They got two big tubes of blood all from squeezing just one of his little fingers. He did NOT like this at all but it was necessary to make sure he didn't have walking pneumonia. The doctor said the blood work results wouldn't be back for a few hours, and since we had already been there way too long they told us to go on home and they would call later with the results. Thankfully his blood work was negative and we started him on steroids for his croup symptoms and another round of stronger antibiotics.
Sam stayed with Lili while I took Jack to the doctor in hopes of keeping at least one of my two well. After Jack and I left the clinic we stopped to get some birthday cookies and Chick-fil-A so we could eat birthday lunch with Lili when we went by to get Sam. Jack had all but forgotten that bad doctor visit by the time he finished his lunch. He was all smiles with a cookie in his hand and icing all over his face! :)
Unfortunately we were supposed to have dinner tonight to celebrate Bobi's birthday but that has been postponed until Jack gets well.
Happy Birthday Lili & Bobi! Here's hoping you two had a better day than poor Jack!
