A Nap....Finally!

Well, I am pleased to announce that I have FINALLY won the nap battle! Sam gave up the good fight today and realized that taking a little snooze in the afternoon might not be so bad after all. :) My good friend Chelsea came to the house to eat lunch with me and I told her she was welcome to stay for the "show" that was sure to come shortly after we ate. I was guessing that today's nap time would be just like every other nap time we've had for the past three or four weeks - filled with screaming then followed by a very short span of sleep. I laid Sam down and Chelsea and I sat in the kitchen visiting waiting for it. About forty-five minutes went by without a peep so I snuck in to check on him and he was sleeping away. I bet I went back in there to check on him at least once every thirty minutes because I just couldn't believe it! Finally, after THREE HOURS had passed I could hear him stirring over the baby monitor. Hopefully this is a sign of good days to come....or else Chelsea is going to have to come each lunch with me more often. =)

Boys Will Be Boys

These two boys absolutely ADORE one another; however, sometimes I think Sam's love for Rusty is a little deeper than Rusty's love for Sam ;) What you see in this picture is what goes on at our house about 75% of the time. There are enough hugs and "pats" to go around for years to come and Rusty is such a good sport. He is just as gentle as he can be and tries to sneak in a lick from Sam every chance he gets. What would a boy do without his dog?

Chicago

On Wednesday, my 25th birthday, we packed our bags and headed to Chicago with Lili and Shuffie. This was Sam's first plane ride and he did great. He loved looking at all of the people around us and waved at just about anyone that would look his way. The total flying time was only 1 hour and 50 minutes so he took a little snooze and woke up in the Windy City!
Sam had his bag packed and was ready to go Wednesday morning!
At the ticket counter in the Jackson Airport, Southwest Airlines.

Sam and Lili looking out the window before our plane took off for Chicago.

We stayed on the 39th floor overlooking Michigan Avenue and Sam was amazed at the sights from so far up!

Waiting for the trolley to take us to Navy Pier on Wednesday night.

What a face...he was certainly patient while we waited to eat dinner at Bubba Gumps.

Excited about seeing all of the animals at the Lincoln Park Zoo!

We had a great time riding the carousel.

Wrigley Field - Braves v. Cubs - Friday, August 20th.

Dad and Sam excited about the game at Wrigley Field!

Waiting for the game to start.
Cool shades Sam!

Sam loved looking at all of the fish at the Shedd Aquarium. It was such an amazing place and we even got to watch the Happy Feet movie in 4D.

What a beautiful city!

It sure was hard to come home after five days of delicious meals, fun shopping and lots of adventures. Thank you Lili and Shuffie for a wonderful trip!

1 Year Pictures - Mynelle Gardens

What a fun day we had exploring at Mynelle Gardens. Adam and I took Sam out there to take some 1 year pictures and they turned out great! It is such a pretty place and I can't believe I have lived in Jackson for 25 years and never been out there!

Go Mississippi Braves!

We took Sam to the Mississippi Braves game tonight at Trustmark Park - his first professional baseball game! He was very interested in what was going on out on the field and was happy sitting in Adam's lap for the majority of the game.

We kept Sam out a little past his bedtime to watch the fireworks after the game - they were great!

Go Braves!!
