He Wakes Up Smiling!

Visiting the Office

This morning Lili and I loaded up the boys and headed downtown to visit my office.  We were supposed to go a few weeks ago so I could introduce Jack to everybody but we all got sick and didn't make it.

Sam had really been looking forward to "working" so I grabbed him some paper and a pen when we got there and he went to town.

He had a few important calls to make while we were there...

...but baby Jack wasn't up for working today.  He played with Mrs. Marilyn for a little while and then got cozy in her arms and took a long nap.  He loved her!

After Sam finished up some of his work, we decided it was time for a lunch break.  I went downstairs and got us his favorite - Chick-fil-A - and brought it back to the office for us to eat together.  After lunch he enjoyed walking around and talking to everyone and even took a special trip with Mrs. Marilyn to get a sucker from the bank and a balloon from the florist downstairs.  What a treat!!

Today I'm feeling extra thankful to work at such a family-friendly place.  They were all so sweet to the boys and I was so happy to get to show Sam my office.  I think it really helped him understand where I am going when I tell him I have to go to work for a little while.  Too bad these sweet boys can't come along with me every day!!

New Swing Set

Friday we bought the boys a new swing set / fort for the backyard.  Sam kept looking at the pictures of it and saying "I want to go play there!"  He just couldn't believe that this fun thing was going to be in his own backyard for him to play on any time.

Shuffie was kind enough to volunteer to help Adam put it together.  I honestly don't think either one of them ever dreamed it would come in so many pieces!  Absolutely nothing was put together when they opened the three big boxes.

Sam was very curious and loved watching Daddy and Shuffie work.  They spread out all of the different pieces and parts in our garage yesterday and got started going through the seventy..yes SEVENTY page instruction manual.  Goodness gracious!

Rusty was very concerned about what was going on in his backyard.

And I absolutely loved watching Sam sit in the grass beside Shuffie for quite a while trying to make his arm stick out behind him just like Shuffie's.  Too cute!

These two guys worked non-stop yesterday, except for a quick dinner break, and still had quite a ways to go by the time it got dark last night.

Lili went out late last night and offered to help for a little while before we called it quits around 11:30.

Shuffie was back over at the house pretty early this morning to help Daddy try to finish this thing up.

Sam really started getting excited when things started taking shape back there.

They put the floor down on the second story of the fort...

...and then Sam had to come out and inspect.

He thought things were looking pretty good...

...but he couldn't say for sure until he tested out the slide.

They were almost finished except adding the swings and a few other finishing touches.

Lili and Sam had fun on the glider.

This sweet Daddy worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect - right down to the little screws in the window.

Hallelujah!!!  Working on the last step in the manual - attaching the warning label on the side.

TA DA!!!  What a labor of love!  A HUGE thank you to Daddy and Shuffie for working so hard to put this together for the boys.  I can already tell that we have many fun days ahead in the backyard.  Sam walked out late this afternoon after they finished and said, "Oh! It's my very own park!"    :)

Happy Easter!

Unfortunately when we saw Dr. Sherwood on Friday she didn't feel like we were well enough to be around others for Easter so we made the best of it and had a low-key celebration at home.

Sam was excited about checking out his presents from the Easter bunny, but crept carefully down the hall this morning just in case that bunny was still hanging around!  He gave specific instructions last night for me to meet the bunny outside our front door and get the gifts so he wouldn't have to come in our house.  :)

Silly boy!

This little bunny discovered his feet this morning and he thinks they are two very fun toys...and tasty too!

My two sweet boys finally starting to act like they feel better.  This upper respiratory virus has been a tough one.

After nap time Lili and Shuffie came over for an egg hunt.  They have both been sick with the same virus we've been fighting so they weren't worried about catching anything new from us.

Sam was looking around very carefully in the backyard...

...and even found some eggs hiding in his new fort.

Rusty was extremely interested in some of the real eggs we hid and kept following Sam around hoping for a bite of one!

Look at all of those eggs he found!!  Great job, Sam!

Jack says, "Shuffie, I sure hope you are hanging on to me tightly because that's a long way down!"

Happy boy!  It's hard to believe that he will be running around hunting eggs this time next year.

The egg hunt was a great success and these two cuties were even nice enough to pose for a quick picture.

It is obvious that this picture is made up of three recovering sick people and a tired daddy that has just spent the past two days putting together a new swing set/fort for the boys.

Jack and Shuffie testing out the new swings.

Jack thinks his is just perfect!

Sweetest two-year-old I know!

We hope everyone had a wonderful day celebrating with their families.  Even though our holiday was very nontraditional we still had a wonderful time just being together and relaxing at home.  Happy Easter!

Easter Pictures

I had some Easter pictures made of the boys a few weeks ago and they turned out great!

They adore each other.

Sweet Sam was so excited about holding the bunny...

...but Jack wasn't too sure about him!

Love these precious boys!!
