This morning Jack had his 6 month checkup with Dr. Sherwood. He weighed 21 lb. 4 oz. and was 29 3/4" long. His length was off the charts so it looks like he will be tall like his daddy. It was neat for me to compare Jack's size right now to Sam's when he was this age. Sam weighed only one ounce more than Jack and Jack is a half inch longer than Sam was at 6 months.
Everybody always loves to visit with Dr. Sherwood so we were thrilled that Lili and Sam decided to join us today. These two enjoyed playing in her chairs while we waited to see her. :)
After glancing at Jack's growth chart when she walked in, Dr. S was truly amazed at how much he had grown. She was pleased to hear that his stomach had been handling the sensitive formula and rice so well and gave us the go ahead to finally start solid foods. She wanted to know what kind of things Jack had been doing lately and checked his reflexes. She commented on how muscular he was and said he would probably be our athlete. I told her little Sam had a pretty good arm on him these days so I might have two athletes running around soon! She explained that because Jack's body was so muscular, especially his legs, that it would probably take him a while to sit up on his own and she would be happy as long as he was sitting up by 9 months.
The dreaded part of the visit came at the very end when poor little Jack had to get his bad shots. The other two times he has gotten shots he has run fever and just acted like he felt awful. Around nap time this afternoon he started running fever and was more clingy than usual. His sad eyes were breaking my heart so we curled up together in my bed for some snuggle time and he was able to get some much needed rest after his tough day.
As soon as he starts feeling better from his shots we will set out our solid food adventure. Can't wait to see what he thinks of Apples!!
I'm so thankful for such a great report today on our healthy, growing boy. It's hard to believe that the next time we see Dr. Sherwood he will be nine months old!! Wow!
